Packing for the Cottage: Men's Edition
Not sure what to pack for your long weekend getaway at the cottage? No stress! We’ve put together a quick list of essential items every guy should pack to stay cool during a cottage weekend trip.
Tops:
Pack a few different t-shirts - the weather can be unpredictable! With sun in the forecast, make sure to pack breathable light-weight shirts - like our Huron V-Neck tee! Not a fan of v-necks? No worries - we’ve also got a crew neck (Lawrence Crew Neck Tee)! Pack a few solid colour tee’s that go with any pant for easy styling.
Bottoms:
Perfect for hiking, fishing, or relaxing - a comfy pair of track shorts are a game changer! Ditch the khaki shorts and instead, opt for a more comfortable option that is versatile. Check out our Aspen Shorts as an option - made of super soft bamboo viscose fabric. These shorts are ideal for the cottage as they’re breathable, sweat-wicking, and quick drying! Perfect for every cottage activity.
Essentials:
Don’t forget the essentials! Make sure you pack enough boxers and socks for your long weekend excursion (and bring extra - just in case!). Bamboo seamless boxers are a great option as they give enough support while also adding extra comfort with no seams or tags. As for socks, we recommend packing both ankle socks and crew length to avoid those pesky ticks in the tall grass.
Seamless boxers also make for great sleepwear! They’re breathable and moisture-wicking - pair them with a comfortable t-shirt and you’re good to go!

Asides from clothing, don’t forget to bring other essential items for your cottage getaway! Make sure you grab your favourite bluetooth speaker - music adds to the fun! If you’re on the hunt for a new one, we recommend a waterproof one like this JBL Go 3 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker from BestBuy! With up to 5 hours of playtime, it’s safe to use by the poolside and lakeside!
We also recommend packing a good reusable water bottle - check out the Rambler by Yeti! That way you can stay hydrated while canoeing on the water, or hiking on the nearby trials.
Don’t forget the entertainment! Pack some lawn games like frisbee, ladderball, or washers! These games are a great way to keep the family entertained while you’re on the docks fishing, or trying to cook up the dinner BBQ! Canadian Tire carries many outdoor games including ladderball and washers!
Lastly, we recommend packing something to keep those pesky bugs away - try a homemade natural bug spray! Healthline provided a great recipe for a natural bug repellent using essential oils - check it out below!
Ingredients:
- Reusable spray bottle
- An essential oil - either lemon eucalyptus OR lavender
- Witch hazel
Instructions:
- Mix 1 part essential oil (either lemon eucalyptus or lavender) with 10 parts witch hazel into the reusable bottle (this means for each drop of oil, use 10 drops of witch hazel)
- Shake the bottle gently to mix together
- Spray onto skin to apply the repellant
