Five ways to style the Alice Cardigan with guest writer April of The Ethical Edit

I am a HUGE Terrera fan. After first partnering with them in late 2019 and again in mid-2020 to showcase ways to style ethically made Terrera pieces, I have purchased a few items for myself and even snagged one of their cardigans as a gift for a friend. And one of the pieces from them that I love so much is the Alice Cardigan – it is versatile, comfortable and, most importantly, ethically made! That’s why I wanted to show you how I style it five different ways – for a chill solo day at a coffee shop (where I love to read and do so much of the writing for my sustainable lifestyle blog The Ethical Edit), for work, for a brunch date with my girlfriends, for a casual nature walk and for running errands in style.

Books, laptop and reusable straw in tow, I usually head to my favourite coffee shops a couple times a week to work on my ethical lifestyle blog or just chill with a good book. And what solo coffee date would be complete without a cozy cardigan, right? For this look I styled the Alice cardi with a white organic cotton t-shirt, green linen pants and some second hand suede boots. Oh, and books, of course.

In my 9-5 I work in marketing and communications. It’s a pretty chill office, so I usually wear low-heeled black boots, black jeans or slacks and a nice top. And, when it’s chilly out in Vancouver (which is most of the time) I like to wear a warm cardigan or blazer, like the Alice cardigan from Terrera! I love that this cardigan manages to be both soft and structured so I look put together and still feel cozy.

When I meet up with friends, I want to be comfy and able to move, laugh, eat and walk with ease, and I also want to look great! That’s why I styled this ethical cardigan with a second-hand velvet cami tied at the waist, high waisted back jeans and second-hand green loafers for a splash of color. That way I look cute and no one will be able to tell when I inevitably spill some hollandaise sauce on my knee, haha!

One of the many things I love about living on the west coast is the abundance of ways to enjoy the great outdoors. I am forever going for walks, hiking and exploring new lakes and trails with friends. But because of our sometimes unpredictable weather, I always have a sweater or cardigan ready to throw on in case it gets cold. And because the Alice cardi is both warm and light, I think it’s perfect for a casual day in nature – it will roll up nicely in any backpack, is flowy enough to let you breath if you wear it open or can be quite warm if you hold it closed. So, to style my light outdoors outfit, I paired my cardigan with a light blue tank top and black athletic leggings, both of which I’ve had for many, many years (yay for slow fashion!) and my trusty waterproof Timberlands.

When there are ten million things to do and you need to be able to move freely while still looking put together, I give you Terrera. For this look I am wearing the Alice cardi with a second-hand gold velvet baseball cap (because let’s be real, on a day like this I might also want to cover those roots!), a super loose-fitting grey t-shirt tucked in on one side, the Terrera Everly leggings in black and second-hand white sneakers. And, side note, the Everly leggings are my favourite leggings I own because the side detailing makes them look a little more elevated!
